Quantitative Aptitude Quest

Profit and Loss

Mukesh and Suresh started a business, contributing Rs.6,000 and Rs.2,000 respectively. After 6
months, Suresh contributed an additional sum of Rs.5,000. The profit at the end of the year was
Rs.1,400. Then, Suresh's share of the profit would be
1. Rs.600
2. Rs.800
3. Rs.700
4. Rs.1,050

Money contributed by Mukesh for 1 month = 12 x Rs.6,000, i.e., Rs.72,000. Money contributed by Suresh for 1 month = 12 x Rs.2,000+6xRs.5,000=Rs.54,000. Then ratio of profits = 72,000 : 54,000, i.e., 4 : 3, Therefore, Suresh's share of profit = 3/7 x Rs.1,4000 = Rs.600
